The R4i Gold is one of the more popular of the R4i Card. It is compatible with the DS, DSi, and the DSi XL. The R4i Gold is usually packaged in a distinctive gold box .

The R4i Gold proved popular in America and Europe due to its excellent game compatibility, and early support for the new DSi v1.4 firmware .R4i Gold team split into R4ids.cn and R4ids.com(R4i Gold V2.0) at the early 2010. r4ids.cn has the official support from Yellow Wood Goblin, meaning R4i Gold cn can also run Wood Firmware.

The R4i Gold was also the very first ds flash card that added support for DS homebrew games and applications for the new Nintendo 3DS system. R4i Gold V1.4.1 Card updated to R4i Gold 3DS Card at March 2011. The R4i Glod 3DS Cards support latest Nintendo 3DS system Ver 2.0.0-2（J,E,U）. And it support N3DS hardware upgrade .

The R4i Gold was the first DSi Card which support the Nintendo DSi V1.4.3 E/U/J .
